Tarot Drabbles: Swords

[.TAROT.DRABBLES:SWORDS.]

Ace of Swords

In the passing years Evaris had amassed his fortune, and yet he’d learned nothing of Drydin. A single piece of knowledge could cut deeper than a blade; all Evaris needed was to get lucky. Well, he fancied it was time to head for Kirkwall and ferret out an Information Broker.

--

Two of Swords

He could kill the man with his left blade, or his right. They brokered equal satisfaction. With the left he could spill the slaver’s guts through a red grinning wound, and with his right he could slit him from navel to nose. The choice couldn’t be made; why not both?

--

Three of Swords

When he was too bone-tired to fight or fuck, drink or smoke; when he could barely move, the wounded feeling haunted him like a ghost. Aiden had trusted his lover. Aiden had died. Evaris was only what remained of the wounded carcass. In his broken heart, he felt only betrayal.

--

Four of Swords

True comforting rest was of Evaris’ greatest treasures. It never let him sleep. Never allowed the complete quenching of this thirsts. But when his body hit that blissful exhaustion and simply refused to move, there was nothing the Fade-Thing in his blood could do. It was perfect seamless black. Rest.

--

Five of Swords

Nothing compared to the thrill of surging recklessly into a vicious fight. Evaris was already addicted to the lovely sting of adrenaline; already aware there would never be enough. Until he learned the high of rushing into battle with allies at his side, and soared with a dangerous new addiction.

--

Six of Swords

Once the mysterious human warrior had rescued him, Aiden could feel only safe and protected in his company. Dry’in had had to carry him for much of that first night, for the elf was far too weak to stand. Ferried away from danger, Aiden saw stars for the first time.
